Welcome to AMB Reviews Halloween page! This page will only be up until November 1, 2009. Here, you can see some of Anthony's top picks for Halloween movies, play some fun games, and read some Halloween movie reviews! Sit back with a warm blanket and mug of cider, and take a look around! There's only so much time left for you to have the Halloween movie night!

Oh no! It's a black cat! Aren't those supposed to be bad luck?

Anthony's Top Scary Movies For Kids

So... you want a decent movie for Halloween that will scare you but won't be enough to send you crying into your parents room at night? Hmm. I think I have a few picks up my sleeve. Let's see here...

Mild (More Fun, Less Scares):

It's The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
An all-time classic. Nothing can beat this upbeat, frothy, and fun delight, as Linus waits on Halloween night for the Great Pumpkin to arrive. Snoopy is also hilarious in this one.

Scooby Doo Meets The Boo Brothers
This little-known, straight to DVD film actually ended up being a great Scooby Doo movie, in my opinion... especially for only including Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy! This has it all... haunted houses, ghosts, skeletons, treasure hunts, giant apes, a comical gun-wielding psycho, and an obnoxious girl. What more could you ask for?!

Wallace and Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit
This eerie, yet comical full-length feature, is full of laughs, kid-friendly spooks, and your favorite clay duo, Wallace and Gromit. I saw this is in the theater with my family, and they all loved it.

Hot (More Fun, More Scares):

The Adventures of Ichabod And Mr. Toad
This Disney re-telling of "The Wind And The Willows" and "The Legend Of Sleepy Hollow" is perfect for a cold and windy night. "Sleepy Hollow" may be a bit creepy for the really young ones, especially when the Headless Horseman comes into the story, but overall, Disney has done it again with a real Halloween treat.

Corpse Bride
This instant classic is recommended for the older kids (7+), as really young tots will either be bored or scared out of their minds. The music is fresh and quirky, the story enchanting, and the voicing perfect. Great for Halloween.

Anthony's Top Scary Movies For Teens

So you've moved into the big leagues now. Welcome. But you see, I'm not one for buckets of blood and gore, as it disgusts you, rather than scare you. So... here are my picks for some good scary movies that won't gross you out (for the most part ;)...

Mild:

When A Stranger Calls (1979 or 2006)
There are two versions of this film, both being worthy in my opinion. The 1979 version tends to drag in the middle, but the beginning and end is sure to scare the heck out of you! The new one, which many hate, I actually think is quite good, as it slowly builds tension up until the climax, in which there are plenty of jumps and scares!

Poltergeist
This 1980's film is quite unrealistic many times, and the visuals are very "old fashioned" by today's standards, but this is still very intense and remains an all-time horror classic. While I wouldn't call it one of my favorites, it still can produce some scares in several scenes and is worth a watch, in my opinion.

Hot:

Psycho
My favorite Halloween movie of all time, Alfred Hitchcock has done it this time, with a scary, grim, and truly suspenseful masterpiece that really started the genre of "horror." Watch out for the famous shower scene... you never once see the knife touch flesh!

The Ring
This movie is much newer than "Psycho," but retains the same message: leave more to the imagination, and it's bound to scare the audience more. This psychological horror thriller will scare you, make you think, and keep your eyes locked on the screen. Timeless.

The Uninvited
This is the newest movie of the bunch, being made in 2009, and though that may set off an alarm for you... no worries... there's not too much blood in store here. This movie mainly relies on jump scenes and some frightening images, rather than gore. The twist at the end is sure to make your jaw drop.

And Then There's Those Timeless Classics...

If none of the movies above spike your interest, try one of the following horror classics. None of them are really all that scary anymore, but are viewed more for nostalgia purposes, as without them, we would have many scary movies today.

1. Dracula (1931)
Just think... without this corny yet classic film, who knows if "Twilight" would even exist today!

2. Frankenstein
Great. No one can beat Karloff's infamous impression of this notorious monster.

3. Creature From The Black Lagoon
Corny. Really corny. Really, really corny. Classic.

4. The Mummy (1932)
Karloff returns in another classic.

5. The Wolfman (1941)
Once again... did I say, timeless?!

6. The Birds
A bit newer compared to the last five, this is another one of Hitchcock's horror films, which will cause you to never look at birds the same way again!
